Light It Up

If you watched the Grand Illumination Parade in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia, you have probably seen our handiwork. We have been putting up holiday lights on building perimeters across the region since 1988.

One of the prettiest scenes in Hampton Roads is the night in late November when all of the buildings on the skyline (and even a few off the beaten path) are silhouetted in bright white lights, whether Norfolk, Virginia Beach or Newport News.

Each year, all of the businesses in Downtown Norfolk outline their buildings with tiny lights. The Grand Illumination Parade is the kickoff of the holiday season, when all of the lights are turned on the same night, and Santa Claus comes by for a welcoming visit.

ISV’s staff decorates a number of the buildings featured in Norfolk’s Grand Illumination event. Whether viewing from a high-rise overlooking the city or staying lower to the ground holiday lighting is one of the exciting things about Hampton Roads.

We hung up thousands of them and enjoyed watching the city twinkle when we were done. It’s amazing to see the display as you approach the city center in the evenings.
